To keep in line with global trends MJPT has decided to move the ANTE from the Button to the Big Blind!
We have specifically moved in line with WSOP as this is the biggest brand in World Poker, as per their release:
For those not familiar with the format, it works as follows:
In variants with an ante, instead of each player posting an ante each hand, the player in the Big Blind will post an amount equal to the Big Blind.
For example, with blinds at 500-1,000, the player in the Big Blind will post 1,000 for his/her Big Blind, followed by 1,000 for the Ante. His/Her total contribution to that pot is 2,000. The Ante (1,000) is dead and is immediately brought into the pot. The Big Blind (the other 1,000) is live and is part of the pre-flop betting.
If a player in the tournament does not have the required amount for both the Big Blind and the Ante, the Big Blind will be paid first, followed by the ante.
No matter how many chips a participant starts with he/she can always win the entire ante. For example: the blinds are 4k/8k and the big blind also antes 8k. A participant who is not in the blinds who starts the hand with only 1k gets involved in a three-way pot against the blinds. If that participant wins, he/she wins 11k (his/her own 1k wager, plus 1k from each opponent, plus the 8k ante). In this scenario, 1 chip can win 11 chips.
We will be implementing this at our next tournament which takes place at Time Square in Pretoria from 23 November – 2 December!
The new updated structures are available for download on the Time Square page:

Welcome back to our last day of the Monster Jam Sun City Series. The thought of going back to reality tomorrow pains me, but the chance to look back in time on such a special week eases the pain a tad. Plus I’m pretty much guaranteed to avoid Jason Strauss for at least another 2 months.
The field is a mix of modern maestros, Tucker, Eugene, Divan, Joeboy and Taariq, Old schoolers Neville Eber, Rudolph Fourie and Norman Keyser, and relative unknowns such as Justin Cohen, Didier Muberuka and Ben Maxton, making their mark on the GPI rankings and series headlines.
The outgoing Tutu Russon going for the big one, Lambo showing he’s a force to be reckoned with or Vincent Laidet teaching us Safa’s how its done Le French way.
Whatever happens, today will reach some exciting conclusions.
Reporting live at the Cherry Bar in the Soho Hotel, I’m Ricky Sandler, but don’t hold it against me.
[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=” av-medium-font-size=” av-small-font-size=” av-mini-font-size=” admin_preview_bg=”] For those who arrived this afternoon, welcome to the City with a Sunny disposition. Our awesome hosts, Sun City Resort and Casino have been nothing but accommodating for our valued guests and we thank them and our other sponsors for the support.
We’re almost an hour into the main event and players keep flowing in. I’ve seen some special poker souls already seated in the room such as Sascha Dreyer, Neville Eber, Fabian Deppe, Simon Yomtov, Ilhan Dhiraz, Hillel Eschur, Norman Keyser and Roy Bitton.
We’re well into Level 2 and blinds are 50/100. 10 tables on the go, and the lightheartedness of seeing old friends and getting settled has turned more serious.
It’s been a roller coaster day already and I don’t believe its going to slow down anytime soon. For those of you with weak stomachs, take up knitting, this is poker baby and there’s no community with more guts than the poker community. We keep growing.
This is my best day of the whole week, and we’re upbeat and rearing for play in the MONSTER JAM MAIN EVENT to start later. I’m Ricky Sandler and I’ll be reporting throughout the rest if the series, if you’ll have me.
Max Sartirana, Lagen Zackey, Andrew Anthony, Maria De Gouveia, Joe De Gouveia, Ryan Cornelli and Ilhan Diraz, are just to name a few of our expected guests joining us for the first time at the MonsterJam Sun City Series.
Today will reach the conclusion of the GRAND SLAM High Roller. 10 players remaining and they are officially in the money. When they return blinds will be 25k/50k/5k. Taariq Jaftha enters the day in the chip lead. This is Jaftha’s 3rd cash of the series, and its no coincidence, he’s playing and running as good as Ray Rahme in the 2007 WSOP Main Event. With Bozo aiming for a repeat of Carnival, we have no doubt there’s gonna be fireworks.
The POT LIMIT OMAHA, returns for it’s final day. The elusive Levi Dare starts the day as top dog. There are 8 players remaining, only 3 finish in the money. Defending champ Warrick Wiegand still in the running for back-to-back wins.
The marquee tournament of the series, the MONSTER JAM MAIN EVENT begins at 7pm sharp. I for one am as excited as Darren Kramer is at a soft cash game.
Time to get going for the day. The POT LIMIT OMAHA and GRAND SLAM Final tables are getting underway in 5 minutes.

He started heads up with a large stack, but it went down to not too much. He fought back and in the end prevailed.
In the last hand his 7’s held against Chunsan Fan’s 4’s. Fan definitely gave Didloff a ran for his money.
Didloff did it in style, with a drink by his side and a charismatic smile on his face. [/av_textblock] [/av_one_half]
